Matthew 6:33, “But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”
Christian Believe and Value That They are a Child of God
Romans 8:17. Many of us have very shallow beliefs, and therefore we have very shallow values. If we truly believed in something, this belief would drive our values. Values and beliefs are closely intertwined. This is particularly evident with Christian believers. The Bible tells us that Christian believers “are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14). A basic belief of Christians is that they are the sons of God. When this belief comes over a new Christian believer, his (or her) whole value system changes in an instant. They now believe that they have an eternal relationship with a new Father, God. Their basic values about life are now changed because of this belief. Christians no longer have the “spirit of bondage again to fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption” (Romans 8:15). New Christians begin to love God, their Father, more than they love money, material things, and sensual pleasures. They value the things of God and are not bound up in sin, nor separated from God. They are no longer driven by fear or the love of the things of this world. Christians because of their belief value that they are heirs of God, and joint-heirs of Christ (Romans 8:17, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ ..."). This wondrous belief of God as our Father will miraculously turn someone's values from the love of the things of this world to the love of the things of God.
ROMANS 8 BIBLE SCRIPTURE Romans 8:17, “And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; if so be that we suffer with him, that we may be also glorified together.“
Christian Beliefs and Good Values Enable Us to be More Than Conquerors
Romans 8:37. Christians because of their beliefs and values can be more than conquerors in this world. Through Jesus Christ, Christians can transcend the day-to-day conflict of good versus bad, right versus wrong, and even death versus life. All that is needed is for us to believe in Jesus Christ as our Savior and Lord. This is a belief where we value the love of Jesus and love Him more than we love money, material things, or sensual pleasures. Romans 8:35 talks about how powerful is the Christian belief in the love of Christ. Romans 8:35 says, “Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword?” A Christian's belief in Christ's love enables them to be more than conquerors. If a Christian values Christ's love above anything, he is equipped to transcend any tribulation, any distress, any persecution, any famine, any humility, any peril, and any danger. Christians can be more than conquerors because they transcend any conflict or fear because of their belief in the love of Christ.
ROMANS 8 BIBLE SCRIPTURE Romans 8:37, “Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us.”
The Lack of Beliefs and Values Bring Out the Works of the Flesh
Galatians 5:21. It is human nature that if our beliefs and values are weak or non-existent, we will manifest the works of the flesh. Galatians 5:19-21 identify the works of the flesh. They are “... Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like:...”.
Works of the flesh are manifested when we have no belief or hope in the future or something greater than ourselves. Someone that has little or no beliefs values nothing but their own immediate gratification. It is self-evident to Christians and non-Christians alike that the works of the flesh listed in Galatians 5:19-21 are works of self-destruction. Things like adultery, wrath, and drunkenness may have some short-term pleasures, but in the end these sins can only result in calamity and eventually death .
Galatians 5:21 ends with saying that those that do the works of the flesh “shall not inherit the kingdom of God”. If we do not believe in God's promises, we see no value in God's inheritance of eternal life. Because of our unbelief we value nothing and will not inherit God's mercy, goodness, and eternal life. Our unbelief condemns us to only inherit the fruits of our fleshly works, namely death and destruction.
GALATIANS 5 Galatians 5:21, "Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God.
