Why Not Take the Lord's Name in Vain?
Exodus 20:7. Below are some reasons not to take the Lord's name in vain.
Lazy Thinking. Swearing is not uncommon to include taking the Lord's name in vain. I use to swear, but stopped even before I became a Christian. While I was in the Army, I heard an audio recording of myself where every other word was a swear word to include taking the Lord's name in vain. After hearing that audio recording of myself, I stopped swearing. I saw that swearing was my way of getting attention instead of having to think through how to effectively get my point across to people.
Jesus is the Way To Self-Control
Colossians 3:17. Many of us seek self-control, but Jesus is the only true way to self-control. He is the only human that has walked on this Earth and was perfect. He had perfect self-control. He had no sin in Him. He was perfect and had no sin in Him because besides being human He was God walking on this Earth. He came here to save us from our sin and from being out of the will of God. If we accept His free gift of salvation, we will be saved and can be perfect as He is perfect. He has given us the power and the living example of how to be perfect in this sinful world.
About Freedom and Government without God
Genesis 11:4. A free, democratic Government is good, but what about freedom and a Government that is without God?
Good Excuses To Be Disobedient – Say This is Not God's Way
2 Kings 5:11. It is in our human nature to come up with good excuses not to obey God. One of the most subtle excuses we can give when God calls us is to say that “this is not God's way”. The Bible has many examples where people resisted God's calling because they had preconceived ideas about God. Naaman, a mighty General in the Syrian Army, almost missed God's blessing because of his preconceived ideas about God. In this example, Naaman desired to be cured of leprosy and Elisha, a man of God, gave Naaman instruction via way of a messenger on how to be cured of leprosy.
Mothers, Both New and Old, Are Inseparable From Their Children
Genesis 3:20. Eve was the first mother. Her name means "life, living, life-spring". She is the mother of all of mankind. Without children, a mother is not a mother. The definition of a mother is defined as "a woman in relation to a child or children to whom she has given birth". There are no degrees of motherhood. A new mother is as much of a mother as a mother that has had several children. Some mothers may be very inexperience, but they are still a mother.
Saving Grace Comes From Our Faith in Jesus Christ
Romans 1:5. Faith is the cornerstone to receiving God’s saving grace. Our faith and love of Jesus Christ brings God’s grace. Our faith and love in Jesus Christ also brings our willing obedience to serve God. God’s unmerited love, as expressed through Jesus Christ, births a faith in us that enables us to receive God’s saving grace.
Seeking God Through Prayer Is Spiritual Warfare
2 Chronicles 7:14. Once we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, prayer is the primary way for us to maintain the mind of Christ. Prayer is a demonstration of our faith in God and is the main way for us to conduct spiritual warfare. In order to conduct spiritual warfare we place our focus on God and not His enemies.
Help Me With Spiritual Needs
Acts 3:6. Many people will say help me with their physical needs, but their spiritual needs are greater. When helping people, we need to make sure to take any opportunity we can to minister to their spiritual needs. There may be some times when we cannot help someone with their physical needs, but we can help them with their spiritual needs. Sometimes people will say help me in regard to a physical need, but they are being shortsighted on what they really need. This is what happened with the lame man at the gates Beautiful.
Define Delusions - The Cares Of This World Cause You To Forget God
Proverbs 30:9. You can define delusions as ignoring truth or unknowingly living out a lie. Many people do this when following a purpose in their lives that is contrary to God. From a Christian perspective, the real truth is that we are here for God’s purpose and that He will provide for our needs. By us getting caught up in the cares of this world, both the rich and the poor among us replace God’s truth with a lie. The rich get deluded into thinking that they can provide for themselves, and they soon forget God.
Christians Believe That Only Jesus Can Save Them
Romans 10:13.The central Christian belief is that you believe in Jesus Christ. Christians believe that as a sinner and imperfect person you are separated from God and only through Jesus can you be saved from eternal death and be reconciled back to God. Only through calling upon the name of Jesus Christ can you be saved. If you do not believe in Jesus Christ, you cannot be saved or reconciled to a righteous God. If you have not heard about the salvation that Jesus offers, you cannot believe and call out for His salvation.
