Selfish Behavior Is Not Of God

1 John 2:16. When you display selfish behavior you are showing the pride of life in you. You are putting yourself above God. You reveal to God that you are "not of the Father, but ... of the world" (1 John 2:16, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.). When you are in true relationship with God, you will display a humble attitude. You realize the grace and love that a righteous God has given to you. Humbleness is the evidence that you are in right standing with God. Pride is the evidence that you are not of God.

1 JOHN 2 BIBLE SCRIPTURE 1 John 2:16, "For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world."

God Will Not Put Up With Selfish Behavior

Psalms 101:4. If you display selfish behavior with God or your neighbor, God will not put up with you for very long. Because God is a righteous God, He cannot be in the presence of the proud. The proud place more honor on themselves than God. God counts this type of person as wicked and He will not know him. Neither will God put up with a proud person that slanders his neighbor. God will not suffer anyone that has a proud heart against God or his fellowman (Psalms 101:3-4).

PSALMS 101 BIBLE SCRIPTURE Psalms 101:4, "A froward heart shall depart from me: I will not know a wicked person

God Will Punish Selfish Behavior

Daniel 5:21. God will ultimately destroy people that continue to display selfish behavior. God does not desire to destroy us because He is a loving God, but just as a loving parent He will punish us. A good example of this is what happened with King Nebuchadnezzar in the book of Daniel. The king had become proud, and God brought him down to correct him. God made "his heart... like the beast. For seven years King Nebuchadnezzar lived in a pig sty and ate grass with the oxen. He was not restored to his kingly position "till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will" (Daniel 5:21).

DANIEL 5 BIBLE SCRIPTURE Daniel 5:21, "And he was driven from the sons of men; and his heart was made like the beasts, and his dwelling was with the wild asses: they fed him with grass like oxen, and his body was wet with the dew of heaven; till he knew that the most high God ruled in the kingdom of men, and that he appointeth over it whomsoever he will."
