How God Can Be the Passion For Our Lives
Colossians 3:2. Many of us have feelings of emptiness and have no passion for life. What is missing is that God is not in our lives. It is not that God does not love us that He is missing in our lives. God does love us and He created us for a purpose to have a relationship with Him.
Find Your Passion in Life
Bible Summary. Most people valuable material things over spiritual things. The trouble with materials things is that they rust, get old, and eventually fade away. Only through God can we find our real passion and happiness in life. Passion is a good feeling. It is where you find purpose, energy, and life. Our heart does not always lead us to good things.
A Passion for Jesus Comes From a Purified Heart
James 4:8. How can you have a passion for Jesus unless this passion consumes you?
A Passion for Jesus Comes From a Pierced Heart
Acts 2:37. A passion for Jesus only overtakes us when we have an extraordinary encounter with Him. Jesus and His resurrection must be experience to be believed. A passion for Jesus only occurs when He touches our heart and pierces it with His truth, His goodness, His love, and His grace.
Stop Playing the Fool and Feeling Down
Proverbs 18:2. From God perspective, we are fools when we are not in relationship with him. It is when we realize that we are at odds with God that we start feeling down about our foolishness. One definition of a fool is “a person who has been tricked or deceived into appearing or acting silly or stupid”.
Jesus Was Shamed By Man But Is Honored By God
Hebrews 12:2. Expressing your views as a Christian can be a humiliating process. Many people are quite hateful of Christian views on such topics as sex, marriage, temperance, recreational drugs, meaning of life, and even money. People will shame you because you do not believe what society believes or what their group believes.
The Consumption Economy's Philosophy of Futility
Proverbs 25:27. A consumption economy has lost sight of God. A consumption economy has no time for God because it is too busy maximizing how much it can consume in food, clothing, housing, energy, hard goods, communications and entertainment. In a consumption society, material goods and fashion replace religion and the spiritual things of God.
Good Values – Seeking God's Love and Mercy
Jude 21. Good values come from God. The Bible teaches us that we must value God above everything else. Jude 21 says, “Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life”. Keeping ourselves in the love of God is the ultimate, good value. God is love and His love is what we should value above all things.
Rely on God, A Christian Value
Matthew 6:33. A core Christian value is for us to rely on God to answer all of our needs. He knows better than us what we need and do not need. How many times have you bought a new gadget or appliance for the home and then found out that you did not need it? How many times have you worried yourself sick about something and then it never happened?
God Will Not Have a Relationship With Us Unless We Confess Sins
Hosea 5:15. Whether we know it or not, we are suppose to be in a loving relationship with God. When we are not, we have broken our relationship with Him. Our disobedience to God, our creator, is a sin. Sin started with Adam, our forefather, and continues with us today. Jesus is the answer for us to restore our relationship with God, but first we must confess our sins.
You Will Lack When You Rely On Yourself Without the Truth of God
Psalms 34:10. Why do people with talents, resources, and good gifts go lacking? It is because they are going it alone without the truth of God. They are like young lions that only rely on themselves, but soon go hungry (Psalms 34:10, "The young lions do lack, and suffer hunger: but they that seek the LORD shall not want any good thing. Proverbs").
Our Unbelief In God Brings No Rewards
Hebrews 11:6. We must have faith that God is the source of all our needs and rewards. We must want to please God, have the right motives, and believe in his promises. Many times when things that we desire are within reach we do not rely on God.
Seeking God Through Prayer Is Spiritual Warfare
2 Chronicles 7:14. Once we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, prayer is the primary way for us to maintain the mind of Christ. Prayer is a demonstration of our faith in God and is the main way for us to conduct spiritual warfare. In order to conduct spiritual warfare we place our focus on God and not His enemies.
Intercession Causes God's Promises to Be Realized in Spiritual Warfare
Isaiah 62:7. Intercession is where we pray to God for the sake of another person or for a corporate cause. Many of the best prayers and intercessory prayers are when we remind God of His promises. God delights in us reminding Him of His promises. It shows that we have faith in Him and His promises.
In Spiritual Warfare Yield to God and You Will be Healed
Exodus 15:26. Exodus 15:26, says "And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee".
