Prosperity
Rely on God, A Christian Value
Matthew 6:33. A core Christian value is for us to rely on God to answer all of our needs. He knows better than us what we need and do not need. How many times have you bought a new gadget or appliance for the home and then found out that you did not need it? How many times have you worried yourself sick about something and then it never happened?
Purpose of Government – Encourage People To Live Right
Genesis 8:17. Starting with Noah, God began to provide mankind a framework and a purpose of Government. The basic purpose of Government laid down by God was to encourage people to live right. Previously mankind had not had human Government and had failed to live right without laws (thus the Flood). When Noah disembarked from the Ark, God began to give Noah instructions that started to bring about human Government.
God Will Punish the Slothful and Reward the Industrious
Matthew 25:29. God desires everyone to be industrious. God has made this world and has made us stewards over His resources. He expects us to be industrious with His resources. Just as in Jesus’ Parables of the Gold Talents, the more talents and resources God gives us, the more He expects of us. Even if you have limited resources, God expects you to do the best with what you have.
Giving is a Daily Occurrence, Not Just When Asked
1 Corinthians 16:2. When giving, God is looking to us to give voluntarily and on a regular basis. By us giving in alms and offerings we are showing God that we put Him above material things. By us giving regularly, we are showing God that we put Him above all things all the time. Just as with a marriage, we must maintain the marriage relationship everyday to have a good marriage. We cannot commit adultery on Saturdays and expect to maintain a good marriage relationship the rest of the week. Our relationship with God is the same thing.
Prosperity - A Blessing Of Believing in God
2 Chronicles 20:20. If we believe in God we will prosper (2 Chronicles 20:20, "And they rose early in the morning, and went forth into the wilderness of Tekoa: and as they went forth, Jehoshaphat stood and said, Hear me, O Judah, and ye inhabitants of Jerusalem; Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper."). This is not only prosperity of material goods, but also prosperity of spiritual goods. God does not desire for us to lack in material possessions or spiritual power.
