About the Wisdom Scriptures of King Solomon

Proverbs 26:16. Lazy people do not seek God for direction in their lives, nor do they seek advice from others. Lazy people think that they have all the answers. Proverbs 26:16 says, "The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render reason".

The Bible Tells Us That the Diligent Are Wise

Matthew 25:4. The Bible parable of the Ten Virgins teaches us that the diligent are wise. In this parable the ten virgins were given the task of greeting the bridegroom as he arrived to the wedding late at night. To do this the virgins were to have lamps to light the way for the bridegroom. All of the ten virgins had lamps, but five were wise and five were foolish.

A Consumer Society Encourages Maximum Consumption With Little Time For God or Anyone Else

Proverbs 6:6. A consumer society encourage people to maximize their time consuming stuff. This stuff includes fast food, video games, TV, vacations, recreational drugs, recreational sex, and so on. All this consumption leaves little time for work, to help people, to encourage people, to add value to society, and no time for developing a relationship with God.

A Mother’s Love is Sometimes a Hard Love

Proverbs 29:15. It is natural for a mother’s love to be forgiving and not judging. At the same time a mother’s love should not just accept anything that a son or daughter does as OK. A mother must provide correction to her children when they are wrong. She still loves them, but she does have a responsibility to nurture and reproof a child.
