The Mind

Your Religious Values Determine Your Future

Romans 8:6. According to the Bible your religious values determine your future in life and in the hereafter. If you have religious values that are spiritually-minded such as truth, goodness, and love, you will have a life of peace and joy. This is what Jesus teaches us if we will believe Him. These are the things of the Spirit and of God. If you do not have much in the ways of religious values, then the Bible says that you are carnally-minded. Carnal means “pertaining to or characterized by the flesh or the body, its passions and appetites; sensual:”.

Prosperity and Wisdom Does Not Equal Godliness

1 Timothy 6:5. Many of us to include Christians can caught up in worldly goods and worldly knowledge and think it is a form of Godliness.(2 Timothy 3:5). First, godliness is about truth and not about worldly knowledge. Godliness is about speaking God's truth and not about winning arguments. There are many smart people in the world, but many of them are far from godliness. Also, godliness is about spiritual things and not about Earthly trappings. God may have blessed us with wealth. We may give to the poor and pay tithes, but that does not make us godly. We cannot buy godliness.

The Bible Says Keep Your Heart Under Self-Control

Proverbs 4:23. The Bible says, "Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life" (Proverbs 4:23). We may see our circumstances or even our own natural abilities as our biggest problems, but it is really our heart where problems start and end. If we strive daily to keep our heart in check, bad thoughts and actions will cease from materializing in our lives. If we focus our hearts on God, the source of all goodness and love, we will keep our heart under self-control.

Definition of Human Nature

Definition of Human Nature. The short answer to the definition of human nature is it is the sum of qualities and traits shared by all humans. From a Christian perspective the definition of human nature centers around man's free will (choice) and his relationship to God.

Separated From God Is To Be Without Conscience

Romans 1:28. God does not desire for us to be separated from him. It is our choice to not be with Him. Many of us do not desire to retain God in our conscience because it is not convenient to our fleshly desires (Romans 1:28, "And even as they did not like to retain God in [their] knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;"). Rather than being filled with God's knowledge, we would rather be filled with unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, envy, deceit, and unmerciful.

To Be Without A Conscience

Romans 2:14. The Bible tells us that God made everyone with a conscience. The Bible goes on to say that everyone's conscience has God's standards written in them of what is good and what is bad (Romans 2:14-15, "For when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which show the work of the law written in their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another;").

Social Conscience Is Driven By Public Acts

John 8:9. A social conscience is a set of customs and norms that are acceptable to a given society. Society's conscience changes over time and is usually driven by public acts and laws.

For example, during a U.S. television awards show Britney Spears and Madonna kissed each other on stage. This event had an immediate effect on the social conscience of the country. After this public event, the social conscience changed where it was now acceptable for two women to kiss in public.

Jesus Tells Us How To Be Obedient

Mark 12:30. In Mark 12:30-31, Jesus tells us how to be obedient to God. He tells us that we must "...love thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength..." He also tells us that it is just as important to "...love thy neighbour as thyself." This is the path to righteousness and being in right standing with God.

The Purpose and Meaning of Life

Matthew 22:37. If God created us, then He has a purpose for our lives. He is the one that gives us the meaning of life. God has given everything and everyone a purpose. God did not just create you for no purpose. When you bake a cake, the cake has a purpose. When you create something at work, it has a purpose. When God created mankind He had a purpose for mankind. God's purpose as given to us by Jesus Christ is for us to have a loving relationship with God and with our fellow man.

Difference Between Love and Lust - Love Comes From The Heart, Lust Comes From The Flesh

Matthew 22:37. Another key difference between lust and love is that love comes from the heart, but lust comes from the flesh. Lust is part of the material world attempting to satisfy one of the five senses. Lust's sole aim is to satisfy the flesh. Love transcends the material world and is solely focused on spiritual things. Love, unmerited favor, can only come from the heart.
