Matthew 23:4. If you are asking yourself how to stop being lazy, this is good first step. You are at least realizing that you need to do better. In many cases, the source of laziness is irresponsibility. God has created all of us for a purpose and He has given us the means to support our livelihood. With purpose comes responsibilities. Laziness is a symtom of not being responsible.

Matthew 21:30. One of the ways on how to stop being lazy is to stop talking about doing something and just do it. In the book of Matthew Jesus tells us of the parable of the two sons. The father told both sons to go to work in his vineyard. One son said no, but later he repented and went to work in the vineyard. The other son was lazy.

Proverbs 26:16. Lazy people do not seek God for direction in their lives, nor do they seek advice from others. Lazy people think that they have all the answers. Proverbs 26:16 says, "The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render reason".

Proverbs 26:14. Sometimes lazy people give us the illusion that they are being productive members of society. They show or talk about many activities, but the problem is that there is no progress or results. Proverbs 26:14 says, “As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.”

Matthew 13:15. If you continually ask yourself, “Why am I unhappy”, it may be because you do not have Christ in your life. The Bible tells us that someone that is dull, listless, and looking inward on everything is far from God. It is this type of unhappy lifestyle that negatively affects both the mind and body.

Bible Summary. A lazy person's lifestyle is so busy doing nothing that they have no time to do anything. Lazy people are irritating because they do not pull their own weight. Lazy people live off their wealth or the wealth of other and they provide no value. They are prideful and lazy and do not have time for others or for God.

Proverbs 18:9. The Bible tells us that lazy people are great wasters. Proverbs 18:9 says, “He also that is slothful in his work is brother to him that is a great waster”. Lazy people are not productive people, they are destructive people. They have resources and abilities that God has blessed them with, but they go out of their way to not use them.

Proverbs 10:26. Lazy people do not have many friends because lazy people are irritating. True friendship consists of a loving relationship. True friends give freely of themselves because they want to and not just to get something in return. Lazy people are not givers. They are freeloaders and takers.

Proverbs 6:10. Have you ever noticed, lazy people have a busy life style. Even though lazy people do absolutely nothing, their schedule is always full doing absolutely nothing. Proverbs 6:10 talks about lazy people. It says, “Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:” Here the Bible describes a lazy person's busy schedule.

2 Samuel 11:1. David gives us an example of human weakness that led him to adultery with Bathsheba and eventually murder of her husband. David's weakness that led to these sins was that that he was not fulfilling God's purpose.
