Colossians 3:10. Everyday a born again Christian must take on the mind of Christ and surrender completely to God. Everyday he uses the Bible and Jesus’ example to become more like Christ. As a new man, a born again Christian stays in continue relationship and knowledge of God (Colossians 3:10, “And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:”).

2 Kings 17:15. If the purpose of a relationship is based on self-centeredness, this is a sign of a bad relationship. An example of this is where the pretty girl hangs out with the ugly girl. In a lot of cases, the pretty girl is in the relationship to be adored and to even look prettier. The ugly girl is there because of envy in the hopes that some of the prettiness might rub off on her. This is a relationship based on pride and envy. These types of relationships will eventually deteriorate into hate and loathing. Many of our human relationships are based on self-centeredness.

A Christian father can bring great peace to a child. A child can learn, receive, hear, and see from their father which in turn will give the child assurance and peace in the future (Philippians 4:9, "Those things, which ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, do: and the God of peace shall be with you"). Without that close father-child relationship a child can be directionless and have no peace about his or her future.
