Our Hatred Of God Is Rooted In Our Sin Nature
Proverbs 29:10. From God's perspective we either love Him or hate Him. When we put things above God and do things that displease Him, our sin nature is telling God we hate Him and hate anything that is of His righteous. Our hating of God's righteousness is most obvious when righteousness gets in the way of us enjoying our sin. We can get quite an attitude and even get quite bloodthirsty when someone righteously reminds us that we should not be sleeping around, or we should not eat so much, or we should not smoke, or we should not gossip, or we should not hate someone of another race.
PROVERBS 29 BIBLE SCRIPTURE: Proverbs 29:10, "The bloodthirsty hate the upright: but the just seek his soul."
Like Cain, Hating God's Righteousness
1 John 3:12. In the final analysis, Cain hated his brother Abel because his brother was righteousness. Abel's righteousness highlighted that Cain's works were evil. This is the only reason that Cain murdered Abel (1 John 3:12, "Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous."). Cain became a murder of his brother in attempt to blot out his brother's righteousness. He saw murdering his brother as the only way to blot out the Truth that was shining a light on his evil works. Proverbs 29:10 says, "The bloodthirsty hate the upright...". People deep in sin can cope with the challenges of this world. People can overcome many obstacles to continue in their sin to obtain fleeting pleasures at the expense of their eternal salvation. What people in sin cannot deal with is the harsh reality of God's Truth that shines a light on their sin and disobedience. Many sinners believe the only reaction to God's Truth is to strike back at God's righteousness with bloodthirsty hate.
1 JOHN 3 BIBLE SCRIPTURE: 1 John 3:12, "Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous."
We Hate God Because We Do Not Know Him
Jude 1:10. We tend to dislike things we do not know. If we are confronted with something we do not know and perceive it as a threat, our reactions can be quite hateful. This is the way many of us our with God. We do not really know God so we hate God. We only know that He and His righteousness gets in the way of us enjoying our sinful ways. We cannot keep enjoying our sins when His Truth makes it obvious that our sinful ways are corrupting us. We end up acting as brute beasts attempting to preserve our sinful pleasures (Jude 10,11, "But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves. Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain..." ). We lash out at God's Truth when it brings us into the knowledge that our sinful ways will only result in death and destruction.
BIBLE SCRIPTURE: Jude 1:10, "But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves."
No One Can Blot Out God's Truth
John 7:7. The only answer to our human situation and our sin nature is Jesus. God is a righteous God that punishes sin with death and destruction. Because God loves us so, Jesus' act on the cross took on our punishment for our sin so that we could be saved. All we need to do is accept Jesus as our Savior. This is the only answer to God's righteousness. Because of our sin nature, we can never be perfect by ourselves. To hate God and deny His Truth will only result in our early death and destruction.
JOHN 7 BIBLE SCRIPTURE: John 7:7, "The world cannot hate you; but me it hateth, because I testify of it, that the works thereof are evil."
