Sowing and Reaping – You Get What You Give

2 Corinthians 9:6. God favors a cheerful giver. Just as He loves and gives to us, He expects us to do the same for others. God has made His creation where if you sow you will reap. This applies to all aspects of our lives to include our day-to-day relationships. God expects us to generously sow and work hard at everything we do. He also expects us to do this cheerfully, trusting Him to provide for us. We must not be bitter because of what we see in the natural. We must know that God has all sufficiency in all things. As a Christian you will get more than what you give, but you must totally trust in God and soweth bountifully in every good work and you will reap also bountifully (2 Corinthians 9:6-9, “But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully. Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you; that ye, always having all sufficiency in all things, may abound to every good work: (As it is written, He hath dispersed abroad; he hath given to the poor: his righteousness remaineth for ever.”).

2 CORINTHIANS 9 BIBLE SCRIPTURE 2 Corinthians 9:6, "But this I say, He which soweth sparingly shall reap also sparingly; and he which soweth bountifully shall reap also bountifully."

Sowing in Righteousness – You Get What You Give

Proverbs 11:18. The right way for us to live in this world is to sow in righteousness. We must strive to do what pleases God. Our flesh looks for the quick fix and does not desire to seek God as to what to do in our daily lives. Following our flesh results in deceitful works where we may fool the world and ourselves, but our seemingly good works do not please God. Our works that are not God centered bring destruction instead of reward. If you sow and do good works in righteous, you will get what you give. You can always be confident that if you love and follow God, you will be taken care of and be rewarded abundantly (Proverbs 11:18, "The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward”).

PROVERBS 11 BIBLE SCRIPTURE Proverbs 11:18, “The wicked worketh a deceitful work: but to him that soweth righteousness shall be a sure reward.”

Reaping the Whirlwind – You Get What You Give

If you do not put your resources to work as God’s good stewards, you will reap the whirlwind. If you are always chasing after “free stuff” (gambling, lottery, scams, stealing, always borrowing, and so on), you are sowing into the wind. If you sow into the wind, you will get what you give. You will reap a whirlwind. There are exceptions where someone wins a lottery or wins at gambling, but in this case they will reap the whirlwind in their personal life. The wife will leave them or even sue them. They will spend all their money on bad investments and frivolous goods. In the end, the unrighteous will end up in hell (Hosea 8:7, “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up”).

BIBLE SCRIPTURe Hosea 8:7, “For they have sown the wind, and they shall reap the whirlwind: it hath no stalk: the bud shall yield no meal: if so be it yield, the strangers shall swallow it up”).

Sowing to the Flesh or to the Spirit – You Get What You Give

Galatians 6:8. God has created this world where you get what you give, but at the same time God makes the rewards, not ourselves. If we only sow and give to our flesh, we will only reap corruption. The fleshly things in life (food, possessions, sensual experiences, and so on) only bring satisfaction temporarily and quickly pass away. All fleshly things are only desirous temporarily because they quickly decay and corrupt eventually resulting in death. If we sow in the Spirit daily (give genuine love to God and our fellow man), we will reap eternal things and eventually eternal life. Eternal and long-lasting things include the fruits of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.”) as well as permanent relationship with God and eternal life. God will take care of our temporary and material needs, if we will sow in the Spirit every day (Galatians 6:7-8, “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting”).

BIBLE SCRIPTURE Galatians 6:8, "For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting."
