God is the Source of a Father's Authority

A Father's Authority Comes From God.

The Bible tells us that a father's authority comes from God. A father's authority consist of his children respecting him, submitting to him, and supporting him.

Key Bible Verse: Matthew 15:4 tells us that God commands us to honor our father and mother.

A Father-Child Relationship is Broken When the Father's Authority is Not Honored.

Honor is key in a father-child relationship. If a child dishonors his father, the father-child relationship for all practical purposes is broken.

Key Bible Verse: Malachi 1:6 advises us that a father-child relationship requires honor.

Dishonoring Your Father's Authority, Makes You Your Father's Enemy.

The Bible tells us that if we dishonor our father's authority, we are our father's enemy. When a father is dishonored it is a sign that the family is far from God.

Key Bible Verse: Micah 7:6 advises us how dishonor your father and mother tears up a family.

A Father's Authority Does Not Overshadow A Son's Personal Responsibility to Do Right.

The Bible tells us to honor our mother and father, and we should respect their authority. At the same time, we cannot use our parents or our past as an excuse to do wrong in the sight of God.
