Christian Diligence Assures That You Will Fulfill Your Calling

2 Peter 1:10. Faith is easy thing to say we have, but faith is not fulfilled until we exercise it. This is done only through Christian diligence. It is faith and our day-to-day diligence that assures our calling and election (II Peter 1:10, “Wherefore the rather, brethren, give diligence to make your calling and election sure: for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall:”). God desires for us to diligently live Christian lives who chooses goodness, love, and truth over evil and disobedience. It is acting on our faith that pleases God, not just talking about it.

Refraining From Sin and Being Good is Good Works in Itself

1 Corinthians 6:19. Good works is also refraining from sin. Jesus walked on this Earth and did not sin. His example of a sinless life proves and inspires us that we do not have to sin. We can do the same “good works” of refraining from sin and inspiring others (1 Corinthians 6:19, “What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?”).

Washing of Feet - Example of a Simple Good Work That Changed Lives

John 13:14. Even Jesus’ simplest acts were life-changing. The washing of feet is an example of good works that displayed God’s love for us (John 13:14, “If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet”). By this simple act, Jesus corrected His disciples thinking about personal relationships.

JOHN 13 BIBLE SCRIPTURE John 13:14 “If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet”

A High-Minded Social Conscience Does Not Please God

Acts 24:16. If you live by the highest social conscience of society, this will not get you into heaven. You are at best pleasing man, and not necessarily pleasing God. Many people think that because they are pretty good people they are pleasing God. This is not true because God is a righteous God. By His nature He can only accept perfection, not just pretty good. Because He is also a God of love, He has given us a way to be acceptable to Him. He did this by sending His Son to save us and pay the price our imperfections.

Social Conscience Is Driven By Public Acts

John 8:9. A social conscience is a set of customs and norms that are acceptable to a given society. Society's conscience changes over time and is usually driven by public acts and laws. For example, during a U.S. television awards show Britney Spears and Madonna kissed each other on stage. This event had an immediate effect on the social conscience of the country. After this public event, the social conscience changed where it was now acceptable for two women to kiss in public.

The Secret Of Happiness is Acting Out With A Godly Conscience

2 Corinthians 1:12. The secret of happiness is when our conscience lines up with God, and we act on that Godly conscience. Because our conscience leads us in our day-to-day activities, our conscience is key for us to have God’s eternal joy.  By having a Godly conscience we can act Godly in an ungodly world.

A Good Conscience Must Be Lived

Acts 23:1. It is correct to say that someone is in good conscience if they live up to their conscience's standards. Paul said that he was in good conscience even before he became a Christian believer. (Acts 23:1, "And Paul, earnestly beholding the council, said, Men and brethren, I have lived in all good conscience before God until this day."). Paul said he was in good conscience even when he persecuted Christians. He said this because he followed his conscience diligently.

A Good Conscience Comes From Love and Faith

1 Timothy 1:5. Ideally, for a person's conscience to be good it needs to be based on faith and love. If you have faith in God, then His Truth and commandments (standards), the gospel of Jesus Christ, will be written in your heart (1 Timothy 1:5, "Now the end of the commandment is charity (love) out of a pure heart, and of a good conscience, and of faith unfeigned:").

A Good Conscience Is Not An Offense To God or To Man

Acts 24:16. The Bible says that nothing is good unless it come from God (Luke 19:18, "And Jesus said unto him, Why callest thou me good? none is good, save one, that is, God."). From God's perspective a conscience can only be good if it is based on God's standards. In order for a conscience to be good it must not be an offence toward God or toward men (Acts 24:16, "And herein do I exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men").

Define Conscience As A Law Written In Your Heart

Romans 2:15. Conscience is a group of laws in your heart. Mankind has demonstrated that they know God's principles. No matter if we know the Bible or not, we know we should not murder, steal, be jealous of other people, and generally not do the things that displease our creator. Our conscience bears witness to the laws that are written in our heart by God our Creator.
