Hebrews 9:12, “Neither by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood he entered in once into the holy place, having obtained eternal redemption for us."
Definition of Christian Redemption – The Old Man is Dead
Romans 6:6. The first part of the definition of Christian redemption is that redemption is the end, the death, to the controlling power of sin in our lives. Our lives no longer need to be controlled by sin. If we accept Jesus Christ as our lord and Savior, our old man, our corruptible sin nature, is crucified with him. Jesus’ death on the cross and His subsequent resurrection proved that sin and death do not have control of us. Jesus’ act on the cross provides everything we need for redemption (Romans 6:6, “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin”). Jesus’ redemptive act on the cross allows up to break loose of sin letting the spiritual old man die, and for us to be a new incorruptible spiritual man reconciled back with God.
ROMANS 6 BIBLE SCRIPTURE Romans 6:6, “Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.”
Definition of Christian Redemption – We Must Be Born Again Spiritually
1 Peter 1:23. The definition of Christian redemption includes being born again. Jesus paid the ransom and took on the punishment for our sin so that we can be saved. But we still have to accept this free gift that Jesus gave to us. We have to believe in Him and accept Him as our Lord and Savior. This is the only way that we will not perish in our own corruptible sins, but have everlasting life (John 3:16, "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life”). 1st Peter 1:18-23 goes on to describe the redemptive power of the cross and us being born again with an incorruptible spirit (1 Peter 1:18-23, “Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers; But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot: Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you, Who by him do believe in God, that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory; that your faith and hope might be in God. Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently: Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever”).
1 PETER 1 BIBLE SCRIPTURE 1 Peter 1:23, "Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever."
Definition of Christian Redemption – The Final Redemption Act Of Our Bodies Glorified
Romans 8:23. The definition of Christian redemption also addresses our physical body. Redemption will occur not only for us spiritually, but also physically. Our body will change from mortal to immortal. The final redemptive act of Christian redemption is the glorifying of our bodies. In the Last Days the redeemed will be fully adopted into God’s house having received His incorruptible spirit and an incorruptible body (Romans 8:23, “And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”). The redeem will receive their incorruptible bodies in the twinkling of an eye. The redeem will change and become fully incorruptible both in mind, body, and spirit being fully adopted into God’s family (1 Corinthians 15:51, “Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory?”). Thank God for redeeming me.
ROMANS 8 BIBLE SCRIPTURE Romans 8:23, “And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.”
