Define Deceit – It Controls, It Suppresses, It is Only Temporary, It Rejects God's Truth

Summary: A legal definition of deceit is “any trick, collusion, contrivance, false representation, or underhand practice, used to defraud another”. The Bible defines deceit in much the same way. The Bible defines deceit as telling a lie to someone to get something. Another way scriptures define deceit is as an action or activity that suppresses the truth. The Bible also defines deceit as not a permanent condition. A person is free from a particular deceit once they know the truth. The Bible also defines self-deceit. Self-deceit is a delusion that not only wrecks havoc in a person's life, but also rejects God. See below for Biblical commentary and scriptures on the definition of deceit.

Define Deceit – The Controlling Influence of Deceit.

When we define deceit it includes telling a lie to someone to get something. This is what happened when Satan deceived Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden concerning eating the fruit of the tree.

See Scripture Commentary: In Genesis 3:4 the serpent lies to Eve about the consequence of eating the fruit.

Define Deceit - Deceit Suppresses Truth.

When we define deceit another aspect is it suppresses the truth. In Christianity deceit results in people not even knowing they need salvation and redemption through Jesus Christ.

See Scripture Commentary: Hosea 7:13 advise us not to lie as it puts us at odds with God.

Define Deceit – Deceit Is Only A Temporary Condition.

When we define deceit we must remember that deceit is not a permanent condition. A person is set free from a particular deceit once he knows the truth.

See Scripture Commentary: Psalm 72:14 advises us that God will redeem our soul from deceit.

Define Deceit – Caught Up In Deceit We Refuse To Know God.

You can define self-deceit from a Christian perspective as getting so caught up in “little white lies” that you forget God. God will separate Himself from our lies and from us. God does like us to get caught up in self-delusions because we will develop a lifestyle based on lies that rejects God.

See Scripture Commentary: Jeremiah 9:6 tells us that self-deceit leads us to rejecting God.
