Deception
Define Delusion - Imagination Without Truth
Bible Summary. You can define delusions as ignoring truth or unknowingly living out a lie. Many people do this when following a purpose in their lives that is contrary to God. We will start with little lies such as thinking that God is the God of love, but conveniently forgetting that he is also the God of righteousness.
Sanctification - Avoid False doctrines that destroy the faith
2 timothy 2:14. As part of being sanctified and set aside for God's use, we must guard ourselves and others from false doctrines that can subvert the faith.
To Understand Prophesy You Must be in Fellowship With Other Believers
Zechariah 10:2. We can never understand prophesy if we do not have a relationship with God and we are not in Christian fellowship. Without a relationship with God, we cannot hear true prophecy because there are too many other false prophets that distract us and mislead us. These false prophets are many and can be ministers, advertisers, your friend, celebrities, and outright scammers.
You Can Not Overcome Your Guilt if You Continue to Take Pleasure in Your Sin
2 Peter 2:13. It seems simple to say, but you cannot overcome guilt if you continue to take pleasure in what you know is wrong. When you feel guilty about doing something, this feeling of guilt is there for a reason. Guilt is not the spoiler of the party, it is really God telling you and showing you that you need to go to the next level.
Acknowledge Your Sin to Overcome Guilt
1 John 1:8. Overcoming guilt starts with acknowledging our sin. From a Christian perspective, you have feelings of guilt when you have sinned against God. This sin, this disobedience, can be anything that you place above God. This could be sex outside of marriage, pride, love of money, lying, stealing, and so on. It is a terrible feeling to have guilt hanging over our head.
Christian Advice on Spiritual Things
The Bible has a lot of advice about spiritual things. Spiritual things are things that are supernatural and cannot be sensed by our five senses. Spiritual things are things such as love, righteousness, goodness, and many more virtues that are also characteristics of God. Spiritual things are eternal. They have no beginning and they have no end. God desires for us to focus on spiritual things.
Illustration on a Lie Being Forever
Lying: A Lie Is Forever. A little girl came very early one morning to her mother, saying: "Which is worse, Mamma, to tell a lie or to steal?" The mother replied that both were so sinful she could not tell which was the worse.
Define Deceit – It Controls, It Suppresses, It is Only Temporary, It Rejects God's Truth
Summary: A legal definition of deceit is “any trick, collusion, contrivance, false representation, or underhand practice, used to defraud another”. The Bible defines deceit in much the same way. The Bible defines deceit as telling a lie to someone to get something. Another way scriptures define deceit is as an action or activity that suppresses the truth.
Jacob, the Scam Artist
Jacob, the father of the twelve tribes of Israel, started his life as a scam artist. One of Jacob's biggest scams was where he was able to talk his brother out of his birthright for a dish of red pottage. Another one of Jacob's scams consisted of Jacob taking advantage of Isaac's poor eyesight to receive Esau's blessing. Jacob did not stay a scam artist all of his life.
Our Consumer Society Chokes The Word Of God
Mark 4:19. Our consumer society is choking the Word of God.
A Christian Definition Of Greed
Bible Summary. The Bible provides us with a rich definition of greed. From a Christian perspective, the core definition of greed is that it is the obsession with accumulating material goods. A greedy person values material goods more than they value God. The Bible also tells us that greed is something that can never be satisfied. Greed and slothfulness have similarities in definition.
Trust Definition - Love Truth; Do Not Trust Lies
Isaiah 59:4. The definition of trust is the "reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, and surety of a person or thing". Another way to say this is that trust is all about relying on the promise of what another person or thing can do (what you think they can do). The issue with trust is that people will mistake a promise for a truth.
Sowing in Righteousness – You Get What You Give
Proverbs 11:18. The right way for us to live in this world is to sow in righteousness. We must strive to do what pleases God. Our flesh looks for the quick fix and does not desire to seek God as to what to do in our daily lives. Following our flesh results in deceitful works where we may fool the world and ourselves, but our seemingly good works do not please God.
Say The Right Thing But Do The Wrong Thing
1 John 2:4. So many people will say they are a Christian or they attend church regularly, but in reality they continue to make wrong choices about the way they live their lives. Many of us continue to place things above God such as sex outside of marriage, love of money, self-pride, and much more.
All Miracles Are Not God's Miracles
Matthew 24:24. Not all miracles come from God. God is all powerful, but not all miracles come from God. There are people that are not of God that can perform signs and wonders (Matthews 24:24, "For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall show great signs and wonders..."). Though the ungodly can have supernatural power, Christians have a stronger power.
