Definition of Human Nature. The short answer to the definition of human nature is it is the sum of qualities and traits shared by all humans. From a Christian perspective the definition of human nature centers around man's free will (choice) and his relationship to God.

Genesis 3:17. When sin entered mankind, God cursed us and separated mankind from Him. In the Christian redemption definition, sin came first, and then God cursed us and separated mankind from Him. God did not hate us. He loves us. It is that He hates sin. With sin comes the curse and separation from God. God’s curse to mankind included specific curses to both women and men.

Joshua 7:12. When you defy God and go your own way with your insatiable desires, you lose your blessings from God. This is what happen when Achan took the accursed things out of Jericho. God's protection and blessings were no longer with Israel as long as Achan continued to covet gold and silver above God (Joshua 7:12, "Therefore the children of Israel could not stand before their enemies, but turned their backs before their enemies, because they were accursed...."). God will not have a relationship with us, if we are putting anything above him.

2 Thessalonians 2:12. The definition of lust includes loving things that are not of God. You lust when you have pleasure in something that does not line up with the Word of God. When you partake in the pleasures of unrighteousness, you are rejecting God's truth (2 Thessalonians 2:12, "That they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.",).

2 Peter 2:14. The definition of adultery includes it being a sin in God’s eyes. Adultery is an unrighteous act. In no circumstances can it please God when you commit adultery. Adultery starts where you lust for someone that you are not married to. You are not pleasing to God when you are “girl watching” because this becomes a slippery slope that will lead to adultery. You are basically coveting someone else’s wife or daughter when you “girl watch”.

Joshua 7:13. Once you know that you have sinned and are willing to accept personal responsibility for your sin, you need to follow through on your responsibility. Jesus, our Lord and Savior, gives us the means to turn away from sin and set aside ourselves for God. Accepting personal responsibility for our sins means that we repent and sanctify ourselves before God.

Joshua 7:12. Not accepting personal responsibility for your sin, separates you from God. God departs from you when you do not acknowledge that you have sinned. His spirit leaves you. With unacknowledged sin, we live defeated lives and cannot face the enemies in our lives. The only way for us to get God back in our lives is by accepting personal responsibility for our sins.
