For us that are born again Jesus Christ is not only our Savior, but also our Lord. Through Jesus we are fully equipped to be obedient to God and take on the mind of Christ. We only need to have faith in Jesus Christ. Christ is our example of how we relate and totally surrender to God. As we grow in our Christianity, Christ is formed in us. If we return to our sin and disobedience, Christ will stop forming in us. We must renew daily our commitment to Christ as our Lord for Christ to continue forming in us (Galatians 4:19, “My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,”).

Galatians 1:6. The Bible is very clear that once you are a born again Christian this does not mean that you will always be a born again Christian. You have assurance of salvation because of God’s promises and your faith. At the same time you can by choice remove yourself from God and His salvation. You do that by returning to your sin and disobedience and not continuing in the grace of Christ (Galatians 1:6, “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel:”).

Your faith and hope in God enable you to be a born again Christian. When you accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior you are doing this in faith of God’s promises. To keep your salvation you must remain and stand in faith everyday. When you are born again you are like a branch that was cut off, but now you are grafted to the tree to live again. As long as you remain in faith you will remain born again in eternal relationship with God (Romans 11:19-20, “Thou wilt say then, The branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. Well; because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not highminded, but fear:”).
