The Lack of Beliefs and Values Bring Out the Works of the Flesh
Galatians 5:21. It is human nature that if our beliefs and values are weak or non-existent, we will manifest the works of the flesh. Galatians 5:19-21 identify the works of the flesh. They are “... Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like:...”.
Christian Believe and Value That They are a Child of God
Romans 8:17. Many of us have very shallow beliefs, and therefore we have very shallow values. If we truly believed in something, this belief would drive our values. Values and beliefs are closely intertwined. This is particularly evident with Christian believers. The Bible tells us that Christian believers “are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God” (Romans 8:14). A basic belief of Christians is that they are the sons of God. When this belief comes over a new Christian believer, his (or her) whole value system changes in an instant.
Examples of Values – New Man Versus Old Man
1 Corinthians 2:14. The Christian ideas of “New Man” and “Old Man” provides excellent examples of good and bad values. From a Christian perspective there are only two types of values: material or spiritual. The Old Man lives by material (natural) values. Examples of material values include fleshly passions such as sex, food, shelter, sensual pleasures, love of money, and love of material things. Examples of spiritual values include ideals such as truth, love, righteousness, goodness, and so on.
The Secret of Happiness Is To Be Acceptable To God
Ecclesiastes 9:7. If you want to be happy, be in fellowship with God. If we are in fellowship with God at all times, we cannot be anything else but joyous. When we are in fellowship with God, every little thing such as a simple meal or a drink of water as well as any action we take is done in joy. Fellowship with God comes with us accepting Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. Jesus paid the price for our sin and God now can count us as righteous. He now finds our works acceptable.
Resurrection Faith Brings Us From Death To Life
1 Corinthians 15:54. The actual resurrection of a dead person is hard for us to believe because everything we see in this world is corruptible. It is decaying, growing old, and dying. We see death and decay everywhere. We see people grow old, we see the leaves turn brown, we see things rust, and we see that every living thing has a physical death in this world. This is why Jesus' resurrection is so important for us to understand and believe. His resurrection demonstrated that He was not of this world. His death was swallowed up in victory.
Cain Did Not Make A Prudent Choice
Genesis 4:7. Cain did not chose the path of obedience unto righteousness. Even after Cain had provided an unworthy offering to God and God counseled Cain on how to be right with Him, Cain continued to go his own way. Cain chose not to be obedient to God and love God. Cain also did not make a prudent choice in regard to loving his neighbor. Cain chose to murder his brother instead of loving his brother Abel (Genesis 4:3-8). This path of sin is not a prudent choice resulting in self-destruction, a hate for your fellow man, and a hate for God.
We Confess Sins and Accept God's Free Gift
1 John 4:15. All that mankind is required to do to accept this free gift, is to confess sins, and acknowledge that Jesus is our Lord and Savior (1 John 4:15, "Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God."). Only through Jesus can we walk in obedience and be in right fellowship with God and with one another.
