Giving out of Love and Repentance

Luke 19:8. One reason that Christians have a need for giving is because of the Godly repentance in their hearts. As part of repenting and turning away from sin, Christians yield willingly to God. The God in us then urges them to give generously to the people that they have hurt previously because of their sinful actions.

In the Bible, Zacchaeus repented and immediately had a desire to give to people after he had an encountered Jesus. After he repented, he immediately made a commitment to give back fourfold to the people he had hurt (Luke 19:8, “And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold”). Zacchaeus' desire for giving and making a commitment to give generously was not motivated as a possible good works that would get him into Heaven. No, he gave out a new, "agape" love (unmerited favor) and repentance to address his past wrongs.

BIBLE SCRIPTURE, Luke 19:8, “And Zacchaeus stood, and said unto the Lord; Behold, Lord, the half of my goods I give to the poor; and if I have taken any thing from any man by false accusation, I restore him fourfold”).
