Jesus Was Shamed By Man But Is Honored By God

Hebrews 12:2. Expressing your views as a Christian can be a humiliating process. Many people are quite hateful of Christian views on such topics as sex, marriage, temperance, recreational drugs, meaning of life, and even money. People will shame you because you do not believe what society believes or what their group believes.

The Bible Advises Us Not To Live Together Before Marriage

Hebrews 13:4. The Bible is clear that sex is part of marriage and sex should not happen outside of marriage. There are a lot of arguments to live together before marriage, but none of them are supported by the Bible. If you live together before marriage it is a sin because you are being disobedient to God. God holds the marriage relationship as sacred.

What is Brotherly Kindness?

Hebrews 13:1. In Hebrews 13:1, Paul tells us to “Let brotherly love continue”. Brotherly kindness and love are not acts that we do on special occasions. It is a lifestyle, a Christian way of life. Paul goes on in Hebrews chapter 13 to tell us what we need to do to have brotherly kindness. Brotherly kindness includes:

Godliness - Be Cleansed With The Blood of Jesus and Pure Water

Hebrews 10:22. The saying, "Cleanliness is next to godliness”, is not actually a quote from the Bible, but there are scriptures that back up the saying. Hebrews 10:22 talks about having “our bodies washed with pure water”. Cleanliness is important in order to be “next to godliness”, but it takes more than cleanliness and personal hygiene to be godly.

Angels - The Natural and the Supernatural

Hebrews 1:14. Throughout the Bible many, many people witnessed angels. The literal definition of an angel means messenger, a messenger of God. God made angels for this purpose. Angels are different from humans. They are "ministering spirits (Hebrews 1:14,"Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation?".

Definition of Redemption – Jesus The Only Perfect Ransom and Eternal Sin Offering

Hebrews 9:12. From a Christian perspective the definition of redemption specifies that the only redeemer is Jesus. Only Jesus’ act on the cross, his blood sacrifice, to take the punishment for our sins can lead to our eternal redemption. Jesus is the only one that has the perfect ransom and perfect gift to save us. There is no other way to salvation and redemption.

The Power Of Darkness Is Made Manifest In Death

Hebrews 2:14. There is a power of darkness. It is made manifest by the power of sin and death. The scriptures tell us that the devil has the power of death ( Hebrews 2:14, "Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;").

The Power Of Belief Brings Endless Life

Hebrews 7:16. God's power results in endless life (Hebrews 7:16, " Who is made, not after the law of a carnal commandment, but after the power of an endless life"). We receive God's power of endless life through faith and trust in God. Jesus demonstrated on the cross that He has victory over death.

Happiness Comes From Provoking Love In Others

Hebrews 10:24. For Christians happiness also comes from us stirring up fellow Christians to display agape love and good works. It is such a wondrous thing when we cause or lead someone else to love others unselfishly. What joy when we see people from the heart offer love to others with unmerited favor.

Happiness Comes From Giving To Others In Love

Hebrews 12:2. Happiness comes from us giving to others. Jesus is the perfect example of someone that was joyful in His giving. He paid the ultimate sacrifice when He went to the cross to die for our sins.

Christian Spiritual Warfare is One of Endurance

Hebrews 10:32. Christian spiritual warfare does not end when someone accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. This is only the beginning of spiritual warfare. Spiritual warfare then becomes a battle of endurance.

Christian Relationships Stir Up Love and Good Works In Others

Hebrews 10:24. Have you ever been the recipient of a good deed? Maybe your car broke down on the side of the road, and a stranger stopped and helped you. Didn't unselfish acts like this stir you up to do good? Did you not have a desire to help someone out when their car broken down on the side of the road?

Child Discipline, A Parent's Responsibility

Hebrews 12:7. God approves of child discipline. It is an essential part of a parent and child relationship. Hebrews 12:7 says "...what son is he whom the father chasteneth not?" If parents do not discipline their children they are basically telling the child that they do not care about them. They are saying they do not want to train their children in what is right.

The Blood Of Christ Purges Your Conscience From Dead Works

Hebrews 9:14. Jesus' desire through His blood is for us to completely purge our conscience and serve the living God (Hebrews 9:14, "How much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself without spot to God, purge your conscience from dead works to serve the living God?").

The Blood of Jesus Is Our Only Hope To Serve God

Hebrews 9:14. At one time all of mankind became separated from God when sin entered into human nature as result of Adam's disobedience in the Garden of Eden. Because God is righteous, He cannot tolerate the sin in man's nature. To reconcile a sinful mankind back to the living God, Jesus offered us a free gift of salvation.
