Sometimes Sleeping Difficulties Come When God is About to Do a Great Things
Genesis 15:12. Sometimes sleeping difficulties may be a sign that God is about to tell you something important. This was the case with Abraham in the Bible.
Sleep Needs Include Giving God the Time to Do a Work in You
Genesis 2:21. There are many needs for sleep. God has all of us sleep for a reason. One of the reasons is for Him to do a work in us. God can give us insight, visions, and directions why we are awake, but sometimes for Him to do something special in us He needs us to be asleep. This is a time when He can have our full attention and He can have complete control over our faculties.
Overcoming Temptation Through Fleeing From It
Genesis 39:12. Joseph of the Bible ended up overcoming temptation by fleeing from it. He had become a servant of Potiphar, Pharaoh's captain of the guard. Joseph did well and prospered in the house of Potiphar. This was until Potiphar's wife became to have eyes for Joseph.

Genesis 4 tells us the story of Cain and Abel. Abel was a keeper of sheep and Cain was a tiller of the ground. Abel brought the Lord an offering of fruit and Abel brought an offering of the firstlings of his flock. God was please with Abel, but not with Cain. God advised Cain to do good in the future, but Cain did not take God's advise.

Genesis 3 tells us the story of original sin. Original sin started in the Garden of Evil where the serpent tempted Adam and Eve to sin against God. They did this by being disobedient to God by eating of the tree of good and evil. As a result of this disobedience, God cursed the serpent, Adam and Eve. Adam and Eve knew shame and were driven from the Garden of Eden.

Genesis 12:2. A key to success in life is just understanding how good God can be to us. God loves us so much and He desires to bless us. All He wants from us is to love Him back. This is what Abraham did. He loved God, he was obedient to God, and he believed in God. It was God's love, God goodness, and God's grace that were key to Abraham's success. God made him a great nation.

Genesis 29:25: The Bible teaches us that we should create value no matter what wrong is done to us in a relationship. Jacob's dealing with Laban shows us how we should always be creating value in any relationship. Jacob had made a contract with Laban to work for him for seven years in order for him to marry Rachel, the second oldest daughter of Laban.

Genesis 29:18: The contracts that Jacob made with his uncle (and soon to be father-in-law), Laban, provides Biblical examples of how God desires for us to create value and fulfill the obligations we make with others. Jacob was starting a new life when he made his first contract with Laban. God had changed Jacob from a scammer to a man of faith.

A definition of value is “the worth of something in terms of the amount of other things for which it can be exchanged or in terms of some medium of exchange”. God desires for all of us to create value in this world.

Genesis 27:19: Jacob, the second son of Isaac in the Bible, started his life as a scam artist. He first scammed his brother Esau out of his birthright and then out of his father's blessing. The scam to take Esau blessings began when it became clear to Jacob that Isaac was planning to bless his favorite son, Esau, in a great way.

Genesis 25:26: Jacob, the father of the twelve tribes of Israel, started his life as a scam artist. The name Jacob means “heel-catcher, supplanter, cheater, defrauder, deceiver”. Jacob received his name at birth when his mother gave birth to both him and his brother Esau. Jacob's brother was the first born, but Jacob was gripping Esau's heel as he came out of the womb.

Genesis 13:8. Abraham in Bible provides a great example of how to avoid conflict when dealing with friends and family. In Genesis 13 Abram and Lot had left Egypt and they had settled between Bethel and Hai. After a while, strife developed between Abram's herdsmen and Lot's herdsmen because there was not enough land to support both herds of cattle.
Purpose of Government – Encourage People To Live Right
Genesis 8:17. Starting with Noah, God began to provide mankind a framework and a purpose of Government. The basic purpose of Government laid down by God was to encourage people to live right. Previously mankind had not had human Government and had failed to live right without laws (thus the Flood).
