Swift Justice is a Purpose of Government
Ecclesiastes 8:11. The Bible provides a lot of wisdom in regard to the purpose of Government. This not only includes broad, guiding principles such as the Ten commandments, but also on small matters such as how Governments should manage judicial courts. Ecclesiastes 8:11 says, “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil”. Many Governments have laws about swift justice, but many Governments do not practice swift justice. Either their courts are understaffed or high-price defense lawyers manipulate the system. Justice is for individuals, but it is also for society - the people. Governments must balance justice to be fair to individuals, but be swift as not to encourage crime and “evil works”.
ECCLESIASTES BIBLE SCRIPTURE Ecclesiastes 8:11, “Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.”
