Summary of Colossians 3. Paul says that Christians seek things from above. As new creatures we must put off fleshly desires and actions. Put off the old man and put on the new man and love one another.Do things in the name of Jesus. Love and respect one another to include husbands, wives, parents, children, and servants.
Discover God to Gain Knowledge of Him. Do Not Define Him
Colossians 2:3. We cannot put God in a box, or pick and choose what attributes of God we want to acknowledge. We must discover God "In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge." (Colossians 2:3).
The Secret Knowledge and Mysteries of God's Divine Nature
Colossians 2:2. God's divine nature is a complete mystery to most of us. Our knowledge of God is not controlled by us, but by God. He is the source of all knowledge, both revealed knowledge and secret knowledge. Even someone that studies God for years will only know what God has revealed to that person and mankind.
Jesus Delivers Us From The Power Of Sin And Death
Colossians 1:13. If we are without God, the power of sin and death will rule over our lives. Only Jesus can deliver us from the power of darkness that is in this world. Jesus demonstrated through His resurrection that He has absolute power over sin and death.
Help Me, Do Not Treat Me With Injustice
Colossians 4:1. Are we fair to people in every area of our lives? Do we treat everyone equally? Many people are crying out and saying help me from injustice, but what is our response. When a beggar says help me, I need food. Do we feed them? When a young boy says help me, I'm being hazed at school, do we do something about it?
