Definition of Lust - The Root Of All Evil
1 Timothy 6:10. The Bible says that the love of money is the root of all evil (1 Timothy 6:10, "For the love of money is the root of all evil: which while some coveted after, they have erred from the faith, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows"). The Bible focuses on our lust for money as an universal evil because money is where many of us put all our hope for material things. Instead of putting our hope in God for our joy, we put our hope in money for our happiness. This is why the love (lust) for money is so evil. People are enticed by all of money's promises to bring them the desires of their heart. Many of us will put our faith in the material things of this world above putting our faith in our Creator who created all things. This is the lust that separates us from God. Our Godly disobedience and break in faith is evil in God's eyes and will only bring us sorrow.
