1 Kings 3:9. God asked Solomon what He could give him. Solomon responded by asking for wisdom in judging others. Solomon desired to have the wisdom to discern between good and bad (1 Kings 3:9, "Give therefore thy servant an understanding heart to judge thy people, that I may discern between good and bad: for who is able to judge this thy so great a people?").
A Mother's Love is a Selfless Love
1 King 3:26. A mother's love can never be separated from her children. When King Solomon had to decide which mother was the mother of a child, he used his wisdom of a mother's selfless love to decide who was the mother of the child. When both mothers claimed the child, Solomon decreed that the child be cut into two and divided between the two women.
