Like Cain, Hating God's Righteousness
1 John 3:12. In the final analysis, Cain hated his brother Abel because his brother was righteousness. Abel's righteousness highlighted that Cain's works were evil. This is the only reason that Cain murdered Abel (1 John 3:12, "Not as Cain, who was of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous."). Cain murdered his brother in attempt to blot out his brother's righteousness. He saw murdering his brother as the only way to blot out the Truth that was shining a light on his evil works. Proverbs 29:10 says, "The bloodthirsty hate the upright...". People deep in sin can cope with the challenges of this world. People can overcome many obstacles to continue in their sin to obtain fleeting pleasures at the expense of their eternal salvation. What people in sin cannot deal with is the harsh reality of God's Truth that shines a light on their sin and disobedience. Many sinners believe the only reaction to God's Truth is to strike back at God's righteousness with bloodthirsty hate.
