<< 1 John 1 >> tells us that the Word of life was manifested before John's eyes in the form of Jesus Christ. As the disciples had fellowship with Christ, we can have fellowship as well. Because God is light, we that are in fellowship with Him can walk in the light. If we say we are in fellowship with Him, but walk in darkness the truth is not in us.

<< 1 John 2 >> tells us that Jesus is our advocate with the Father that we may be atoned for our sins. The evidence that we know Jesus is that we keep His commandments of love.

<< 1 John 4 >> tells us of God's perfect love. God loved us first. Because God loves us, He sent His son, Jesus Christ, to save us. God's love is "agape" love which is defined as unmerited favor. If you love God and your fellowman the way God loves you, you are born of God. God is love, and the only way to know God is to love Him and your fellowman.

<< 1 John 3 >> tells us that God loves us and has bestowed upon us the honor of being sons of God. As children of God we sin no more because we have the love of God in us. As Christians we have taken on God's character that includes loving others as God loves us.
